At Witney Community Primary School, we place a great emphasis on the entitlement of all pupils to have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. This is achieved through a range of learning experiences which allows them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Through the curriculum we provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve, irrespective of social background, culture, race, gender, differences in ability and disabilities.

The curriculum also promotes pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Pupils are encouraged to be independent and think for themselves but to respect others and their environments through understanding and awareness.

We aim for the curriculum to stimulate enjoyment of, and commitment to, learning as a means of encouraging the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all, preparing them for their journey through education.

If you require any further information regarding the curriculum, please see your child's class teacher or the Head Teacher Mrs Meyer.

The two year school curriculum plan which is based on the National Curriculum is available in school. Parents are invited to meet with the teachers to discuss plans for the children at the beginning of each year.

We use the Read Write Inc scheme to teach phonics in Reception, Year 1 & 2 and the Read Write Inc Spelling programme from Y2-6.
