Ladybirds in Reception

Great excitement in our Reception Class this morning! Following the children’s interest in ladybirds ( there are lots in our garden) we have been hunting for ladybird larvae and a few days ago we found some ladybird pupae.

Over night the ladybirds have emerged and the children were amazed that they were spotless! Over the course of this morning the spots have revealed themselves and now we have happily released them back into the garden. Fantastic science and first hand experiences for our children. I think the ladybird fascination is far from over after today moment of awe and wonder.
