District Cross Country - 2019

43 children from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in the District Cross Country competition at Chesterton, near Bicester, on Thursday 24th October.

They certainly had the perfect weather for cross country running, with lots of rain and mud! The Year 4 race was 1200m, and 1500m for the Year 5s and 6s.

A huge well done to everyone, for battling the elements and trying their very best. It was a first experience for many, and the rain certainly did not seem to dampen any spirits! There were around 200 children in each of the four races, so lots of competition! A special mention to Megan Fillary, who came 6th place in the Under 11 girls’ race, a fantastic achievement!

And another special mention to Amy Butler, who got injured at the start, but carried on regardless. She was determined to finish, and displayed admirable resilience!

It was fantastic to see all of the children being so supportive of one another, cheering others on when they were not running and doling out congratulations at the finish. There were so many fantastic performances and some brilliant sprint finishes!
