U11 Girls Football Tournament

Tuesday 25th May at Witney AstroTurf Pitch

On Tuesday, Bella, Sophie W, Katie P, Alana, Lisa, Freya and Elodi went to a football tournament at the Witney AstroTurf. We played against five teams; Batt United, Blake, Madley, Queen Emma's and Batt Rovers.

The first match we played was against Blake, the score was 2-0 to WCPS. Alana and Bella both scored one each. The game against Batt United we won 1-0. Bella scored that amazing goal! Up next we played Batt Rovers. They put up a good fight but Alana's goal won us the match 1-0. Following that game, we played Queen Emma's. In that match Lisa came from behind to secure the first goal. Just before the final whistle, Alana crossed the ball into the back of the net making it 2-0! Finally we took on Madley. We battled hard and kept a clean sheet, not conceding any goals throughout the tournament. Well done to Sophie for some brilliant goal saving. It was a tense match that ended 0-0.

During the presentation WCPS and Madley were announced the top two teams and we waited anxiously to hear the final results. When we were declared 1st place, everyone cheered with excitement! Witney Community Primary School were the winners!!!

We all had a great time and thank you to the girls for supporting each other and being enthusiastic. Also a huge thank you to Miss Willis and Mrs Bishop for getting us there, we really couldn't have done it without you. Last of all, thank you to Mrs Hermon for being an encouraging coach.

We hope we have inspired more girls to play football.
