Gratitude at W.C.P.S.

Since returning to school in September we have had a whole school project focusing on daily gratitude.

Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. ... Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.

Across the school each class has practised daily gratitude and recorded it in different ways . This is also something that the adults in school have been encouraged to do for their own wellbeing. It’s a simple idea that you can also do at home.

In Reception we have a simple daily theme such as ‘a toy I am grateful for ‘ or ‘ weather that I am grateful for’. Mrs Taylor writes down 4 of our ideas each day and displays them on leaves on our gratitude tree. The leaves will go in the gratitude book when the tree is full.

In Year 2 the children have a wonderful reflection space and are encouraged to record what they are grateful for.

In year 4 the children created these beautiful gratitude flowers documenting the things that they are grateful for. They also have a gratitude jar which they add to daily

Year 6 have a Gratitude Corner in their classroom and they write down things that they are grateful for each day to put into the gratitude jar.

They also have a wonderful Affirmation Station.
