Year 2 Class Rules

We used the story Clark the Shark by Bruce Hale to help us think of our class rules.

Welcome to Year 2!

In Year 2, we work hard to be the best that we can be. We always try our best and we challenge ourselves to have a go at new things. We are supportive of each other and we celebrate each other’s successes. We have an inclusive curriculum and we make learning fun and engaging for everyone.

As we head into the final term of the year, we still have lots of engaging learning opportunities in Year 2. We have started the term with our RLT Art Week where we are using our work on Henri Rousseau to create our own portrait-landscape pieces of artwork. Watch this space to see the finished products!

We are continuing to develop our knowledge of plants in Science and we have already been investigating the conditions plants need to grow.

As historians and geographers, we are learning about seaside holidays from the past and identifying the world's continents and oceans.

We have worked hard to develop our coding ability in computing using Scratch Jr before moving on to Online Safety for the final few weeks of term.

In RE, we have been studying Judaism and we all enjoyed a trip to the Synagogue in Oxford.

We will be wrapping up the term with Sports Day and a final trip to finish off the year.

Growth Mindset

Image14

Growth mindset is about having a positive attitude and supports being a successful learner.

Showing a growth mindset helps us face challenges, overcome failure and
be resilient. At WCP we celebrate mistakes in all subjects as we know that that can be the first attempt in learning. We discuss how our
learning behaviours contribute to be successful in school and relate this to
future ambitions. Each term we focus on a particular learning behaviour
that is linked to growth mindset and certificates are awarded to children who show these learning behaviours in school.
