Young Carers
Our Home School link Worker Mrs Bridges-Martin is also the Young Carers Lead in school-please come and talk to her if you think your child is a Young carer. She can chat in confidence and support you to complete a referral form.
Here is some more information about what a Young Carer is and what Be Free Young Carers can offer.
Do you have a child aged 8+ who helps care for someone at home?
Being a young carer means looking after a parent or family member who may be living with a physical illness, disability, mental health difficulty, or a dependency on drugs or alcohol. It can also mean supporting a sibling with a diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). While this role shows incredible resilience and care, it can sometimes make it harder for young people to relax, enjoy themselves, or share how they’re truly feeling.
Be Free Young Carers is here to support them. They can provide:
- Fun respite activities where they can take a break and just be a child
- Opportunities to meet other young carers who understand
- One-to-one emotional support in a safe and caring environment
